Proxy wallet
A Proxy wallet on Polymarket is a lightweight smart-contract wallet that auto-deploys the first time you send a Polymarket transaction. It is the alternative wallet type offered alongside a pre-deployed Gnosis Safe and is designed to let you trade without a separate, pre-existing smart-wallet.
In context
When you connect a web3 wallet to Polymarket you may see two wallet models: a pre-deployed Gnosis Safe (Safe wallet) and a Proxy wallet. The Proxy wallet is created automatically and only once — on your first on-chain interaction routed through Polymarket's Relayer. From that moment the Proxy wallet holds your CTF outcome tokens and interacts with the CLOB for order placement, splits/merges, transfers, and redeems.
Because deployment is performed via Polymarket's Relayer, the process is gasless to you. The Relayer also handles ERC-20 approvals and the necessary CTF operations so you can trade using pUSD without manual contract calls. If you later prefer a Safe wallet you can switch to a pre-deployed Gnosis Safe instead.
