WalletConnect
An open protocol for connecting wallets to dApps over a relay.
WalletConnect
WalletConnect is an open protocol that links wallets and decentralized applications (dApps) by routing messages through a relay rather than requiring a direct browser extension. On Polymarket and PolyArb you’ll see WalletConnect listed alongside connectors like MetaMask, Rabby, and Coinbase as a way to sign transactions and interact with the CLOB and CTF contracts.
In context
When you choose WalletConnect on Polymarket or PolyArb, the site initiates a session request that your wallet app accepts. That session lets the dApp send transaction requests (for example, placing an order on the CLOB or performing CTF split/merge operations) and receive signed responses. Polymarket’s Relayer still sponsors gas for transactions; WalletConnect only handles the wallet-dApp connection and signing flow.
Because WalletConnect uses a relay, it supports mobile wallets and non-extension clients that don’t expose an in‑browser provider. The user experience varies by wallet: some wallets integrate the EIP-6963 connector model, others present a QR code or deep link to open the wallet app.
